Ten days after moving into college I am standing in the pit seats of the Yung Gravy concert at the Allentown fair. I am standing side by side with people I know will be in my life for a while. In such a short period of time we have grown so close. I couldn’t imagine going through college with anyone else. Bbno$ had just left the stage after opening for Yung Gravy. We are screaming so loud with our hands in the air. Yung Gravy enters the stage and we are holding onto each other to contain our excitement. I knew the Allentown fair would be fun but the people I was with made it a memory.
The song “C’est la vie” starts playing and I have no thoughts in my head. The experience the Allentown fair gave me is one I will remember forever. Moments like this make you forget everything. I am with my new friends in a foreign town full of hundreds of people I have never met. I felt safe. Yung Gravy’s music has the ability to make you go numb. We were packed so tightly together, singing and dancing for 2 hours. When Yung Gravy entered the stage I was able to look around and think about how the whole build up of going to college was no longer a scare in my brain. I was here with my amazing friends singing the songs of an artist I have admired for a while. The mixing smell of popcorn and body odor was a very weird experience but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
A couple of songs later Yung Gravy started walking around to throw water bottles to the crowd. I couldn’t believe that I caught one. He told the crowd to drink a little bit and share it with your friends. He told us to save a sip at the bottom of the bottle for later. I thought it was so we could drink it at the end of the night if we were thirsty but in the middle of one of his songs he took his bottle and strayed water into the crowd. Everyone else took their water and sprayed it as well. The cold water hitting my skin felt amazing. I was so hot and tired and the cold water in the air and on my skin was incredible. It was such a cool experience. Yung Gravy is a great entertainer. I didn’t know all of the lyrics to all of the songs but I still had as much fun as everyone else. One week into college and I am making incredible memories at a fair in the town of my college. I was sweaty, tired and managed to make incredible memories with my friends.
