I think it is important to read about history and the differences between other cultures and mine. The Arabian Nights is a very cruel story that depicts women as the villains. While I disagree with the way women are treated, I still think we should still be reading these stories because they tell us about the history and all that Arabs overcame. These tales should be read within reason, and the violence should encourage others to partake in it. Although I have found this story to be quite gruesome and weird, I have also been entertained by the constant flow of information. Every time you turn the page, there is something new and crazy. I have chosen to keep an open mind and let myself find the good in this story. I generally don’t enjoy reading because it can be a chore but this book presented me with something a bit different than any book i have read before. This book was clearly written for men and not women which bothers me but back then, men were in charge of everything. Women had no say over their actions and words. The extreme racism and gender divide continues to remind me that history is important to learn from and not repeat. I believe this is a great story to read and expand my knowledge on the arab culture.
